Robert Alderson, Partner, United States and European Patent Attorney, BERGGREN(Finland)

Robert is one of a very small number of intellectual property professionals working at a European IP firm who has a law degree from the United States and is qualified to practice before both the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. In addition, in 2018 he passed the European Patent Litigation Certificate Exam which will allow him to participate in litigation proceedings before the upcoming European Unified Patent Court. Prior to moving to Europe 11 years ago, he worked in New York as an intellectual property attorney for 14 years, which included over 10 years at an AmLaw 100 law firm. His primary responsibility at Berggren is to act as a convenient contact point for U.S. and other non-European entities, including universities, research institutions, science parks, companies and law firms, particularly those seeking high-quality, reasonable-cost services in connection with their European intellectual property needs. Given his background in both United States and European intellectual property law, he frequently writes and speaks on a variety of IP topics.
